There’s No Better Way to Spend a Summer Saturday

3 min read

Summer evenings have a particular kind of magic. The heat of the day softens. The light turns golden. And people start looking for places where they can gather, relax, and enjoy the season before it slips away. At Ort Farms, Summer Saturdays were created for exactly those evenings.

What started as a simple idea has grown into a beloved weekly tradition for families, couples, groups of friends, and neighbors. People come for the live music, the food trucks, the homemade ice cream, and the open space — but they stay for the feeling of community and the chance to slow down together.

Something for Everyone

Each Summer Saturday offers a slightly different mix of activities, but the core experience remains consistent and welcoming. Local musicians play live music that sets a relaxed, upbeat mood. Rotating food trucks bring new flavors every week. Our homemade ice cream stand stays busy. And the free Community Area gives kids plenty of room to run, climb, and play while adults sit, talk, and enjoy the evening.

Parents often tell us how much they appreciate having a place where the kids can burn energy safely while they actually get to relax and have a conversation. The open layout of the farm makes it easy to keep an eye on children without feeling confined.

Good Food Makes Everything Better

No Summer Saturday feels complete without good food. The Farm Market stays open with fresh produce, baked goods, and local specialty items. Then the food trucks arrive with everything from savory dinners to sweet treats. Because the lineup rotates, regular visitors often discover new favorites throughout the season.

And of course there’s the ice cream. After a warm day and an evening of music and play, a cold scoop of homemade ice cream tastes especially good. Many families make it a ritual — dinner from a truck, then ice cream before heading home as the sky starts to darken.

It’s Become a Real Gathering Place

One of the most rewarding parts of Summer Saturdays is watching the same faces return week after week. Kids form friendships on the play equipment. Parents start recognizing other parents. Neighbors catch up over dinner. First-time visitors quickly feel the welcoming atmosphere that makes Ort Farms feel less like a destination and more like a community space.

In a time when many people feel disconnected, these evenings offer something simple but powerful: a place to show up, be outside, listen to music, and share time with the people who matter.

Every Week Feels a Little Different

Although the overall format stays familiar, we intentionally keep elements changing. Different musicians, different food trucks, occasional special themes or activities — these small variations make each visit feel new. We post weekly schedules on our website and social media so you can see who’s playing, which trucks are coming, and whether any extras are planned.

This approach lets people build a Saturday evening habit without it ever feeling repetitive.

A Few Things That Help

  • Arrive with a bit of flexibility. Popular food trucks can draw lines, and the best picnic spots fill up.

  • Bring a light jacket or sweater. Even warm days can cool off once the sun sets.

  • Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk the property or let kids explore.

  • Check our social channels the day of for any last-minute updates on music or food truck lineups.

  • Consider making it a full evening — many guests arrive in the late afternoon, stay through dinner and music, and leave after ice cream as dusk settles.

  • The Community Area is free and open, so it’s easy to combine with other farm stops earlier in the day.

Why We Love Hosting These Nights

We created Summer Saturdays because we believe a farm should be more than a place to buy produce or pick fruit. It should also be a place where people gather, celebrate the season, and make ordinary evenings feel special. Watching families dance a little to the music, kids run freely, and friends linger over conversation is one of the best parts of our summer.

Your presence helps make these evenings what they are. Every family that shows up adds to the energy and the sense of shared community.

Come Spend Your Saturdays With Us

Summer never lasts as long as we want it to. One of the best ways to hold onto it is to fill the evenings with good food, live music, open air, and people you care about.

Whether you come once or make it a weekly tradition, we invite you to spend your Saturdays at Ort Farms. Bring the kids. Bring a friend. Bring whoever makes the evening better. We’ll have the music playing, the ice cream ready, and the farm gates open.

We can’t wait to share these summer evenings with you.
