OUR 2019 CORN MAZE
Opening September 7th, 2019
Our 2019 Corn maze theme is "Hope" We are thrilled to have partnered with Laurens Hope Foundation, a program benefitting brain injured children
The mission of Lauren’s Hope Foundation, Inc. is to do whatever we can to enhance the lives of brain injured children and to give hope and provide support for their families by planning social events and to provide partial/full funding for specialized therapies or equipment where insurances do not provide coverage.
This organization is very close to our hearts and bears a special meaning to our family, as we have two family members affected by brain injury. A member of our family, Beth and Bill Ort have been following this organization since discovering it a few years ago. Beth recalls her inspiration for helping us chose this year's maze theme:
"Bill and I attended the Lauren’s Hope Ball in April of 2018. The Ball is organized by Ann Flood in memory of her daughter, Lauren. The proceeds of the ball benefit the Lauren’s Hope Foundation which provides support and education to children and their parents after some type of brain injury has occurred. Part of the evening involved speakers sharing how they had been helped or had helped the foundation. We are the parents of a child who suffered a brain injury after contracting viral encephalitis as a baby. Our son has grown into an independent young man who is getting married in June of 2020. As we listened to the stories, we were thunderstruck at how we are and were these people. We had been through and been told the very same things these families were sharing. It was a very moving night for both of us. The next morning, we were driving home and talking about how profound the night had been. There were lots of tears shed on that drive home. We kept saying to each other that God put us there for a reason and that we need to figure out what that reason was. That night I was hit by my purpose. Every year Ort Farms chooses an organization to benefit in a portion of the proceeds from their fall corn maze. I decided that facilitating the dedication of the maze to Lauren’s Hope would be my way to pay it forward. I approached Nicole and explained my idea and reasoning. In addition to my son, William, we have a niece, Tracey, who suffered a brain injury due to a venous malformation in her brain. Nicole was immediately on board with me on the idea of how wonderful it would be to dedicate the maze to Lauren’s Hope in honor of William and Tracey. Nicole, Ann, Bill and I talked several times and came up with the theme of butterflies in honor of the Butterfly Ball where this idea all started. Nicole spoke with her maze designer and he proposed the Field of Hope. We all loved it right away. I am so excited to have had this opportunity to “Pay it Forward” and know everyone will love the challenge of the Field of Hope and a beautiful day at Ort Farms."
We are very excited for the fall season and to invite our visitors to join us and support Laurens Hope Foundation.
